Founder, MyCancerDB LLC
Steve Aldrich is the founder of MyCancerDB LLC, a company owned by late-stage cancer patients to help them identify their best available treatment options and better monitor their disease progression and response to treatment. The inspiration for the company arose directly from Steve’s response to a fatal cancer diagnosis in March 2017. In response, Steve had his healthy somatic and cancer genomes fully sequenced, and analyzed the resulting data to make informed decisions about his treatment. In doing so, he discovered there were no available facilities for enabling cancer patients to store and utilize their raw genomic data in order to identify and access their best available treatment options. Hence, MyCancerDB. Prior to this, Steve was the founder and CEO of Bio Economic Research Associates LLC (bio- era TM ), an independent research and consulting firm specializing in the social and economic consequences of human-induced change to biological systems. Beginning with the publication in 2003 of “SARS and the New Economics of Biosecurity”, bio-era became a leader in the analysis and response to emerging infectious diseases, including H5N1 Avian Influenza and H1N1 pandemic influenza. Steve was a founding member of the UN “Towards a Safer World” pandemic preparedness network, and worked with many governments, private sector companies, and NGO’s on pandemic preparedness and response. He is the author or co-author of numerous articles, books, and reports including:
He lives in Stockbridge, Vermont with his family, where he is nominally retired, but still finds time to produce excellent maple syrup.
